Since 2017, Greater York Baptist Church has existed for one reason: to glorify God and bring the saving faith of Jesus Christ to our community. We are passionate about making York a place where the Gospel is heard and lives are changed. Come be a part of what God is doing here.
Our Vision
At Greater York Baptist Church, we envision a future where our community is transformed by the love and grace of Jesus Christ. We are biblically centered at our core. Every message is carefully crafted around the Word of God, because we believe that only the Bible can produce true transformation.
We are equally people oriented, strongly believing that every single person matters and has a place here, just as Christ declared in John 6:37, "and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." Our commitment to serving those around us is unwavering; we strive to be a beacon of hope through outreach and compassionate care, sharing the message of God's love with all who are searching.
Whether you are new to faith, returning to church, or simply looking for a place to belong, our doors are open and we are ready to welcome you. As we look ahead, we are excited to continue building a church family guided by the words of Matthew 23:11, "But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant."
Our Pastor
Thomas Almanza
Pastor at Greater York Baptist Church
Pastor Thomas Almanza, known better in the community as Pastor Tom, is a bi-vocational pastor with a deep calling to serve the York community. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Theology and a Master of Arts in Bible from Fairhaven Baptist College, he founded Greater York Baptist Church in April 2017 with a simple but powerful vision: to be a shining light in York and its surrounding communities.
Outside the pulpit, Pastor Tom is a devoted husband and father. He and his wife Holly have been married for over 20 years and together are raising five daughters. Holly brings a true country girl spirit to their home, balancing out Pastor Tom's Chicago roots. A Chicago suburbs kid at heart, Pastor Tom brings his lifelong loyalty to the Cubs and Bears wherever he goes.
